Appearance of the Malinois
Despite not having been bred for beauty contests, they are quite the sight. Lean but muscular and of medium size, they greatly resemble the German Shepherd Dog. However, they are lighter on average and have a shorter fur coat. Their posture is very striking with the neck raised straight up. Their faces are charcoal-colored with erect ears.
Grooming is not a big ordeal; combing their fur once a week is enough. However, they do lose fur all the time, so you better be ready to live with that!
A Malinois from a reputable breeder will not suffer major health problems. Make sure to ask about the medical history of the parents before adoption, as known illnesses are Hip/Elbow Dysplasia and Progressive Retinal Atrophy.
